In Adulthood the producers use such tracking shots as the one above to create the illusion of the audience being part of the school and following and listening in on Trife, Moony and Jay's conversation. Furthermore the reason for filming the gate creates an urban feel to the scene and also adds a sense of containment to the scene. Also the medium long shot of these three characters is additionally effective as it the viewers can clearly see their body language and facial expressions.
